Instituto Nacional de Neurología y Neurocirugía “Manuel Velazco Suárez”: La Tomografía por Emisión de Positrones (PET) es la técnica de diagnóstico por imagen de medicina nuclear en la cual se aplica al paciente un radiofármaco (unión de un fármaco con farmacocinética conocida a un átomo radiactivo emisor de positrones). La PET/CT cerebral con 18F-FDG (análogo de la glucosa) evalúa el metabolismo glucolítico cerebral ya que éste proporciona aproximadamente el 95% del ATP necesario para la función cerebral.
