Electric truck mandate in California

Modern cities need internal combustion engine heavy duty trucks for building, operations and dismanteling as well as all supplies and waster removal. They have prospered with these trucks since the early 1900s. Now political and environmental activists are determined to stop the use of this very efficient system of transportation and replace it with a much worse system for operations, costs, and the environment. Why do voters go along with this? Why did Germans go along with the Nazis in the 1930s?

Diesel trucks can travel about 1,200 miles after filling the tank in 15 minutes; the range of electric trucks is about 150-330 miles, and recharging takes hours.

Electric truck cabs cost two-to-three times as much as diesel cabs and weigh about 10,000 pounds more than comparable diesel versions, reducing net freight carried by as much as 20 percent.

Earlier this year, California passed regulations that would turn the trucking industry upside down. Zero emission mandates would disrupt the industry, raise shipping costs, and put trucking companies out of business.

Eight other states, Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington, have already adopted California’s ACF rules. Six states are expected to join.
