This is an excellent educational video about the key technical points of fast breeder reactors, namely the fuel design and fuel recycling. The video is about the highly successful Integral Fast Reactor program at Argonne National Laboratory in the 1980s and 1990s. Anti-nuclear activists worked for decades to stop breeder reactor development. They succeeded through President Bill Clinton. The Russians and Chinese are pressing ahead to use this technology. Never has a leader of any nation abandoned such a vast amount of energy resources as did the United States when it stopped the fast breeder reactor program in the 1990s.
(R. Terrell, Art Crino) USofA - Clean Energy: The Nuclear Solution (Interview on www.thenewamerican.com)03.Mar.2015
Art Crino, P.E., is a retired licensed electrical engineer. He began his career in design and construction of gas-fired steam electric and large hydro stations. He covers many subjects related to fossil fuel and nuclear power, both which are essential to modern living and economy.
John Shanahan - Dr. Robert Stencel, Physics Professor at the University of Denver invited me to give a talk to his non-science students about NUCLEAR POWER and the related topics of RADIOISOTOPES and RADIATION. These are the topics that Go Nuclear, Inc. focuses on for public education. Information is presented from earlier presentations by outstanding scientists and engineers, who specialize in each area. At the beginning of the semester, many of the students were skeptical. Professor Stencel had them study two books and an MIT report before my presentation. They formulated 23 pages of single spaced questions. Dr. Robert Stencel, Dr. Robert Amme and I are thinking about writing a book centered on these student questions, a primer for the general public. This presentation gained student advocates for nuclear power.
During the summer between high school and college, Peyton Williams responded to an invitation to learn a little about the benefits of peaceful uses of nuclear energy. His task was to study the book by Charles Till and Yoon Change from Argonne National Laboratory titled, "PLENTIFUL ENERGY - The Story of the Integral Fast Reactor. The complex history of a simple reactor technology, with emphasis on its scientific basis for non-specialists." He did a superlative report and we wish him the best in college and the future. Go Nuclear.
