Leonard Koch is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a major pioneer in fast breeder reactor technology for EBR I and EBR II. For his contributions to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, he has received top awards from around the world.

The Power Reactor Innovative Small Module (PRISM) designed by GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy is a small, modular, sodium-cooled fast reactor. The PRISM core is located in a pool-type containment vessel and is fueled with metallic fuel. Each PRISM produces 311 MW of electricity.
