Everyone is familiar with a carbonated drink going flat. That is CO2 escaping to the atmosphere. The author makes an excellent point that the CO2 being added to the atmosphere is being absorbed by land and ocean sinks - a greener planet and more carbon dioxide dissolved in the oceans. This clearly shows that the CO2 from fossil fuels is not causing catastrophic global warming.
