This article investigates the question: "Where is the additional atmospheric CO2 of the last two hundred years coming from - a) the use of fossil fuels, b) natural processes, c) a combination of both? Many scientists have answered this question in separate articles. This article includes the author's original explanation, comments and responses.

The answer to this question is important for guidance of regulations and projects being proposed regarding use of fossil fuels.
