Production of radioisotopes in research reactors is very important but has been resisted and blocked in the United States since the 1970s by anti-nuclear activists. Radioisotopes are essential in diagnostic medicine to see diseases clearly. This article describes what the rest of the world is doing to produce radioisotopes in research reactors. The world is going in a better direction than the policy makers in the United States.
