In 2021 the ‘Net Zero Needs Nuclear’ themed Position Paper was published by the Nuclear
for Climate initiative. It is now available in 17 languages.
Over 100 societies and non-governmental organisations representing at least 80,000 young professionals, engineers, scientists, nuclear experts, environmentalists and concerned citizens of the globa have signed this declaration.
NOTE: History will show that carbon dioxide from fossil fuels does not cause catastrophic climate change. Nuclear power is not a control knob for managing global warming. Nuclear power organizations, their leaders and members are demonstrating a lack of understanding of basic climate science. John Shanahan, civil engineer, advises that the nuclear power industry is wasting valuable time on a climate alarmist error mission and will raise questions in the minds of the public about their qualification to handle science and engineering projects.
Furthermore, he thinks that close to complete global expansion of nuclear power under the best of real situations will take far longer to complete than 2050.
