Deaths from preventable causes, normal flu perhaps same as COVID-19

National Safety Council has compiled causes of death for 2018. By far most deaths in the USA are from heart disease and cancer, a total of 1,200,000 in 2018. Then come preventable deaths and deaths due to common flu, a total of 300,000. The annual death rate from COVID-19 may end up being similar in annual numbers to deaths from common flu. The deaths due to COVID-19 are mostly concentrated in people ages 70 and over. We don't shut down the economy for heart disease, cancer, preventable deaths and common flu. Shutting down the economy for COVID-19 could be a monumental mistake, like the mistake of mandatory long-term evacuations after the Fukushima accident in 2011. When will politicians stop being so incompetent and instead be great leaders in time of need?
