Coal, oil, and natural gas have provided about 80% of the world’s total energy needs from the early 1900s to the present. Their by-products are used in almost all aspects of our lives. Liquid fuels do a lot of things that electricity can not do or can not do at the same low cost. Electricity controls nearly everything, including communications and computers. It is an absolutely essential commodity.
