Littoral Combat Ship - U.S. Navy
This might be the worst ship building program in world history. A relatively simple project that failed in multiple disciplines. Countries have been building warships since before the Greco-Persian Wars 499 BC to 449 BC. The same kind of reckless planning goes into energy policies that are the backbone of the modern world.
Is this problem indicative of just one program in one branch of the U.S. military? Is it just the military? Is it just the U.S. Government? Does this extend to schools, universities, banking, insurance and Wall Street?
Comments by a marine engineer.
What is necessary is a body of engineers and officers who have more knowledge of shipbuilding and ship operations than the shipyards. They have to tell the shipyards what to build and how. And they have to supervise the construction of the ships and be present when they are put into operation. It would have made sense to first build a ship and test it extensively before going into series production.
It is impossible if a ship's crew is not allowed to repair damage themselves. Having staff come from the shipyard for this is nonsense.
A Navy whose politicians make such decisions no longer needs opponents. It has lost before a fight begins.
