Nasima Akhter earned a Ph.D. in Medical Science from Kanazawa University Graduate School of Medical Science, Japan. She is one of five winners of the 2013 Elsevier Foundation and Organization for Women in Science for Developing World prize for her work at the Center for Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound, the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, and Dhaka Medical College Hospital Campus in Bangladesh.
