Oil and by-products. What environmental extremists do not want you to know.

  • Article Countries: Canada

“This message should be sent to every liberal and every Greenie. If all liberals, dippers and greenies hate oil, then they should remove all of their clothes, all made from oil. Stop walking on concrete and paved sidewalks as these are made from oil, walk on real dirt without shoes like your ancestors of about 1000 years ago did. STOP ever so smugly drinking your lattes while telling us about your hypocrisy.....remove your panties now... and never mind the fiberglass skis, and gortex jackets and gloves that keep you warm on the slopes in the winter.... let's be clear about oil.

Oil Productive Capacity A Problem?

  • Article Countries: USA
  • Article Year: 2022

The American oil industry was born in the 18th century with the Drake well at Titusville, PA. However, the Spindletop oil discovery in Texas was the true beginning of the American oil industry. For decades many flowing wells produced thousands of barrels per day. Now, it is likely few, if any, such high rate flowing wells will be discovered. The best possibilities lie on Alaska’s North Slope (ANWR offers billion barrel reserves with the likelihood of high-rate flowing wells). Exploration of additional shale basins in the US offer sizable oil reserves. However, America will make the leap in discovery of new oil reserves to bring it up to Russia’s level of reserves. Lastly, the cost of finding and procuring these new reserves will be much higher than in the past.

Is there a solution? Yes, but it does not lie with solar or wind generated energy. It lies with nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is safe, efficient, and cost effective. For decades we have propelled our aircraft carriers, submarines and other ocean-going vessels with nuclear power without any activist fears being fulfilled, i.e., core meltdowns or any other serious accidents. In fact, what is the human/animal death count from an onshore nuclear power plant compared to other industrial plants? Unfortunately, uniformed activists and politicians have successfully fear-mongered the use of nuclear power plants and storage of nuclear waste on a scale matched only by the global warming crusaders. This being said, what is the future of nuclear reactors?

Chris Mooney, Washington Post: Christiana Figureres, the former head of the United Nations’ Framework Convention on Climate Change, recently joined with a group of climate scientists to state there are 3 years left to get emissions moving sharply downward. If we’re holding out hope of limiting the warming of the globe to below 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial temperatures, often cited as the threshold where “dangerous” warming begins.

Steve Goreham, Executive Director, Climate Science Coalition of America: Much of government policy, academic thought, and public opinion stands on fears created and promulgated by environmental sustainable development. The philosophy that humans are too many, too polluting, climate destroying, and profligate wasters of natural resources holds today’s society in a powerful psychological grip. Thousands of energy and environmental laws are justified on these misconceptions. Let’s briefly review why these ideas are incorrect. -- The comment by Jon Boone is worth reading.

Nick DeIuliis, The Hill: While the novel coronavirus has triggered a global debate on how to balance short-term infection rates with long-term economic viability, a crucial epiphany is slowly emerging through the deliberations. Society realizes that the “Church of Climate” has propagated an epic fraud upon individual rights, taxpayers, and free enterprise.

Paris Climate Agreement to save the planet

  • Article Countries: USA
  • Article Year: 2016

Barack Obama, President of the United States: A sweeping global agreement to combat climate change by shifting the world economy away from fossil fuels will take force next month after passing a threshold for ratification on Wednesday with support from European nations. President Obama, speaking from the Rose Garden, called the "Paris Agreement" potentially a "turning point" for our planet. "This gives us the best possible shot to save the one planet we've got," Obama said.

Perversity of climate science kangaroo court

John Holdren was President Barack Obama's Science Advisor: In the 1970s he talked about serious man-made global cooling. Since then, he talks about serious man-made global warming. In 2016 they issued a document saying that they would/could reverse climate change. If the climate gets warmer, they would cool it down (by stopping use of fossil fuels) and if the climate gets cooler, they would warm it up. Nothing close to this has ever been done. Here, he talks about the perversity of scientists discussing the "settled science" of man-made global warming. This has tremendous consequences for the global economy and well being of people everywhere. May the red team - blue team man-made global warming discussions begin.

Petition to the White House to keep nuclear power plants working

  • Article Countries: USA
  • Article Year: 2016

America’s nuclear energy plants are a vital asset providing reliable, carbon-free electricity to tens of millions of households and businesses around the country. The ANS circulated a petition authored by a 3rd party. It is to be sent to the White House to support existing nuclear power plants. Physics Professor Emeritus, William Happer, Princeton University and Physics Professor Emeritus Howard Hayden, University of Connecticut support nuclear power but refuse to sign the petition because it improperly demonizes carbon dioxide from fossil fuels. Dr. Theodore Rockwell, in 2010, explains that the issue of CO2 from fossil fuels ranks 9th among priorities for the American public with regard to benefits of nuclear power.

William Happer, physicist, Princeton University, USA, W A Wijngaarden, physicist, York University, Canada: William Happer's view is that human emissions likely dominate the increase of atmospheric CO2 over the past century. There is enormous complexity of CO2 in the atmosphere, the land and the oceans. One has to wonder if four coupled linear equations are too simple with respect to reality. He thinks that growing CO2 levels are a great benefit to life on Earth and to humanity.

Are we willing to dramatically increase mining to get all the minerals necessary to make hundreds of millions of batteries and electric motors? Mining is far worse for the environment than oil extraction. Remember, right now the lithium automobile batteries cannot be recycled at the end of their useful lives.

James Hansen former NASA scientist, considered the father of global awareness of man-made global warming, man-made climate change, man-made climate disruption: The title of this article says a lot, "The Planet Could Become Ungovernable." The premise that humans have ever in the past or present "governed" Earth's Climate is far from reality. The hypothesis that humans will govern Earth's Climate in the future is pure imagination. Like the fairy tale about children and parents of Hameln, Germany, a Rattenfaenger may lead the believing public away to a human controlled utopian climate on Earth. The poorer half of the world will have to go without fossil fuels and just suffer through it.

The use of plastic reduces the need for other natural resources. Plastic bags, cups, and plates save the need for more paper. It saves the tress. Plastic tables and chairs and lamps also save the demand for wood. Plastic bumpers on cars eliminate the need for chrome. The use of plastic in cars makes them lighter and therefore more fuel efficient. Plastic makes heart transplants possible. Plastic is used in a wide variety of medical devises, without which people would either die or be denied happy, useful lives. There is no natural wood, paper, or glass substitute.

Thorpe Watson, Ph.D. in Physical Metallurgy & Science of Materials. Thirty five year career covering wide range of science disciplines plus 10 year investigation of the climate controversy: Most societies are in dire need of scientifically astute politicians with the courage and integrity to denounce the bogus, climate-change narrative and its wrongful vilification of CO2. The use of fossil fuels will not only extend the planet’s Green Period, but it is also enabling mankind to avoid the grinding poverty prevailing prior to the widespread use of such fuels.

Positive impact of human CO2 emissions

Patrick Moore, Ph.D. Ecology: This study looks at the positive environmental effects of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a topic which has been well established in the scientific literature but which is far too often ignored in current discussions about man-made climate change policy. All life is carbon based and the primary source of this carbon is CO2 in the atmosphere. The combustion of fossil fuels for energy to power human civilization has reversed the downward trend in CO2. It promises to bring CO2 back to levels that are likely to foster an increase in the growth rate and biomass of plants, including food crops and trees.
