USA - James Hansen takes stage at COP21 to explain carbon free

  • Article Year: 2015
  • Publisher: atomicinsights.com

During a press conference held in Paris on December 2, 2015, Dr. James Hansen provided an explanation of what he called a simple market-based approach to address CO2 emissions. He suggests that a worldwide fee on all hydrocarbon fuels could be assessed at the domestic mine or port of entry. Hansen believes that cap and trade has been tried and has failed.

Paul Driessen is senior policy analyst for the Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow (www.CFACT.org) and author of Eco-Imperialism: Green power - Black death. Worry less about manmade climate cataclysms – and more about cataclysms caused by policies promoted in the name of controlling Earth’s climate. Don’t force-feed us with today’s substandard, subsidized, pseudo-sustainable, pseudo-renewable energy systems. When better, more efficient, more practical energy technologies are developed, they will replace fossil fuels. Until then, we would be crazy to go down the primrose path to renewable energy utopia.

USA - Michael Bloomberg Announces 242 Million Dollar Bid to Shut Down Coal

A liberal billionaire and former mayor of New York City is announcing a roughly quarter-billion-dollar push to crush coal production in 10 developing countries.

Michael Bloomberg, a failed 2020 presidential candidate with a net worth of $70 billion, according to Celebrity Net Worth, is throwing a whopping $242 million at achieving his long-standing goal of ending coal production across the world. Bloomberg’s pledge to kill off coal also marked “the first phase of his commitment at COP26 in Glasgow to help shutter or cancel a quarter of the world’s coal plant capacity,” according to Bloomberg Philanthropies.

Along with dictators in Russia, China, and North Korea, there are plenty of similar people in North America and Europe working to make many people suffer so they can have more power and impose their crazy idealogies. These are troubling times. - John Shanahan

USA - Monumental, unsustainable impacts of large scale wind energy

  • Article Year: 2017
  • Publisher: CFACT

Paul Driessen, senior policy analyst for the Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow (www.CFACT.org): Demands that the world replace fossil fuels with wind, solar and biofuel energy – to prevent supposed catastrophes caused by man-made global warming and climate change – ignore three fundamental flaws. 1) The unprecedented warming and disasters are not happening. 2) The process of convicting oil, gas, coal and carbon dioxide emissions of climate cataclysms has been unscientific and disingenuous. 3) Renewable energy proponents pay little or no attention to land and raw material requirements, and associated environmental impacts, of wind, solar and biofuel programs on scales required to meet mankind’s current and growing energy needs, especially as poor countries improve their living standards.

USA - Mountain memories from South America and Asia

  • Article Countries: Ecuador, Nepal, Tibet
  • Article Year: 2019

John Shanahan, civil engineer. Reflections on the importance of getting out in nature. Think of the fossil fuels that are needed to travel to these places, to build the airplanes, boats and vehicles, to manufacture the high tech equipment and clothing. Extreme environmentalists claim they need to save the world from catastrophic, out of control, global warming by insisting that everyone stop using fossil fuels. Don't go to the mountains. What kind of a world will it be with only energy from windmills and solar panels manufactured by the energy from other windmills, etc. And lastly, the materials for the windmills would have to be mined by energy from windmills or use wooden windmills. Other extreme environmentalists claim that the whole world can go nuclear in 50 to 100 years. Would you bet you life savings on that? The world desperately needs good government and sound energy planning with fossil fuels and nuclear.

USA - No longer even slightly skeptical

I have had a lot of time to think about the weather, the climate, and my future career plans. Part of my study between periods of clearing my driveway, deck etc. has been reading James Hansen’s excellent book titled Storms of my Grandchildren: The Truth About the Coming Climate Catastrophe and Our Last Chance to Save Humanity. Count me as no longer a skeptic, and no longer patient about our need to take effective action now to reduce the tons of greenhouse gases and other pollutants that humans are dumping into the atmosphere every day. - Rod Adams

USA - NOAA Climate Change report 2021: Global Temperature

  • Article Year: 2021
  • Publisher: climate.gov

• Earth’s temperature has risen by 0.14° F (0.08° C) per decade since 1880, and the rate of warming over the past 40 years is more than twice that: 0.32° F (0.18° C) per decade since 1981.

The website: allaboutenergy.net doesn't raise a question about NOAA’s climate data although others do raise the question of manipulation and misinterpretation. We question conclusions about atmospheric CO2 being the main driver of Earth's climate and claims that controlling atmospheric CO2 will control Earth's climate. Furthermore, we question claims that extracting CO2 from the atmosphere or limiting emissions from fossil fuels will control CO2 in the atmosphere. We think that CO2 emissions from vast CO2 reservoirs in the oceans and life on land are dominant controls of long-term atmospheric CO2.

USA - Nucleating our carbon-managed future

Earth Day 2021. The level of concern and the degree of activity being directed towards slowing the additions of heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere has never been greater. This would be encouraging except that decades of study, thousands of scientific reports and billions invested has yielded little progress. Prior to the economic slow-down caused by Covid-19, even the rate of growth of emissions had not been meaningfully reduced. Now, with economies starting to recover, global emissions are rising again, when what is needed is for these emissions to be dramatically declining.

Richard McDonald, is a retired research physicist from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Sustainable access to food, water, and energy is critical to the survival of the 7+ billion persons on Earth, and efficient utilization of present resources and technologies is key to achieving this goal. Symbiotic efficiencies can be had by combining energy generation with other processes to recover heat normally wasted in energy generation.

USA - Positions on energy and man-made global warming

  • Article Countries: USA

John Shanahan is a civil engineer and past president of Go Nuclear, Inc. and Environmentalists for Nuclear - USA: There is a titanic struggle regarding nuclear energy, fossil fuels, wind, solar and bio-fuels and the topic of man-made global warming and man-made sea level rise. This article presents the position of the website: allaboutenergy.net. The right combination of energy sources and position on the topic of catastrophic man-made global warming and sea-level rise is extremely important for humanity, the environment and all of nature.
