Wind and Solar - Not Really Renewable

  • Article Countries: USA
  • Article Year: 2020

Raphael Telis, research physicist at BNL and CERN: One of the most widespread myths is that wind and solar power sources are inexhaustible because the wind will always blow and the sun will always shine. This statement assumes that all that is needed for energy is wind and sunshine, which isn’t the case. Wind and sunshine don't equal wind power and solar power. The transformation into renewable energy requires minerals, metals and fossil fuels, which are non-renewable resources. Thus, wind turbines and solar panels are largely made from non-renewable resources. Take a note: "renewable energy" isn't a technical or scientific term but a marketing term.

Wind and Solar add zero value to the grid

  • Publisher: CFACT

Jay Lehr, Ph.D. Science Contributor, CFACT: Why is wind power and solar power, not making significant gains in providing a substantial amount of renewable electricity? The US has utilized, in its energy mix, about eight percent of wind and two percent solar for more than a decade. The reason it is not growing requires an understanding of the fundamental elements, of an electrical grid.

Wind and solar can not save the planet

  • Article Countries: USA
  • Article Year: 2019

Michael Shellenberger, Founder - President of Environmental Progress: This is an excellent review of wind and solar energy. It doesn't work. Michael and his science advisor, James Hansen are determined to stop use of fossil fuels because of their convictions that they are causing catastrophic anthropogenic global warming. John Shanahan points out that this website has hundreds of articles on wind, solar and man-made global warming. Based on these articles, he concludes that the world needs fossil fuels far more than any possible problems with global warming they cause. The problems with stopping use of fossil fuels are tremendous, existential. Extreme environmental and man-made climate change alarmists are determined to save the world with their solutions. They are not the best persons to help the world. China is doing a far better job of helping millions out of poverty by using fossil fuels than extreme environmentalists like the Sierra Club, the Natural Resources Defense Council or James Hansen are doing by forcing stopping use of fossil fuels.

Wind and solar details without subsidies

Wind turbine investment ends in financial disaster

Turbine proves more trouble than it was ever worth. After a decade of dashed financial hopes, mechanical failures and punishingly costly repairs, the school has been left to lick its wounds and lament. The experience to date has been a total financial failure. And now comes the whopping cleanup bill to have the nightmare removed, for good.

Wind, solar, wood, dung

National Economics Editorial Staff: Renewable energy advocates have claimed for decades that solar and wind power are the future. Some boldly state that the world could be powered by renewable energy sources as early as 2030, given the exponential growth of solar and wind electrical capacity. And of course, the mainstream media plays up the importance of solar and wind energy in defeating the scarecrow that is climate change. While 13.6% of world energy comes from renewable sources, the vast majority—72.8%—is just people in developing countries burning wood, charcoal, and dung for energy. That’s right: feces is a more important energy source than wind power.

Wind, Sun, Sand - Vacations - Politics

  • Article Countries: USA
  • Article Year: 2020

John Shanahan, Civil Engineer, Editor of allaboutenergy.net: A lot of the public in North America and Europe have been led to believe that wind and solar energy are better than fossil fuels and nuclear. Other countries are determined to stay strong with fossil fuels and nuclear. It is so sad to see the downfall of Western Civilization coming from extreme environmentalists claiming catastrophic man-made global warming and sea-level rise. The nations with stronger energy programs will control the world.

Wiping out fossil fuels would bring mass chaos, death

Paul Driessen, senior policy analyst for the Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow: The IPCC says it’s still possible to limit planetary warming to an additional 0.5 degrees C (0.9 F) “above pre-industrial levels” – but only if global CO2 emissions are halved by 2030 and zeroed out by 2050. So climate alarmists intend to carbon-tax, legislate and regulate our energy, factories, livelihoods, living standards, liberties and lives to the max. We went to war with King George over far less serious abuses and usurpations.

World - A time for perspective

The 20th Century brought horrendous suffering and death. The covid pandemic of 2019 - 2021 caused several million deaths but much less than other pandemics and acts of man. Politicians triggered a global economic downturn that led to a reduction in man-made carbon dioxide emissions. But this did not change the increasing atmospheric CO2 trajectory. The increase in atmospheric CO2 must be from another source, like release of CO2 from the oceans from a naturally warming world. Leaders of the free world are forcing very questionable energy policies (abandon fossil fuels and nuclear power - go with wind and solar). That is unjustified and scientifically baseless. The decisions of alarmist politicians and their backers will cause tremendous suffering and death. Our worst enemies are among us.

World - Batteries - Some amusing descriptions with some good information

When the crowd settled down, a scholarly-looking man walked out and put his hand on the shiny block, “Good evening,” he said, “I am here to introduce NMC532-X.” “We call him NM for short.” “NM is a typical electric vehicle (EV) car battery in every way except one; we programmed him to send signals of the internal movements of his electrons when charging, discharging, and in several other conditions. We wanted to know what it feels like to be a battery. We don’t know how it happened, but NM began to talk after we downloaded the program.

This fictional story includes a three minute video that will amaze you about how electric vehicle batteries, solar panels and wind turbines are made.

World - Extreme Green demand to reduce fossil fuels

  • Article Countries: USA

  • Publisher: Cornwall Alliance

Calvin Beisner, Cornwall Energy Alliance: One of the greatest concerns is that the demand to reduce allegedly dangerous, man-made global warming by reducing carbon dioxide emissions would trap the world’s poorest 2.9 billion people—about 1.3 billion of whom still use wood, coal, charcoal, and dung on open fires as their primary cooking and heating fuels and about 1.9 billion of whom lack all access to electricity—in extreme poverty and high rates of disease and premature death.

Let nobody tell you that the second decade of the 21st century has been a bad time. We are living through the greatest improvement in human living standards in history. Extreme poverty has fallen below 10 per cent of the world’s population for the first time. It was 60 per cent when I was born. Global inequality has been plunging as Africa and Asia experience faster economic growth than Europe and North America; child mortality has fallen to record low levels; famine virtually went extinct; malaria, polio and heart disease are all in decline.

Worthless wind and solar - output collapses in freezing weather

Keen to survive when dead-calm, freezing weather sets in? You’d better have access to nuclear or fossil-fuelled power sources, simply because wind and solar generators are bound to deliver absolutely nothing, at all.

XCEL Energy and Colorado Governor Jared Polis on wind and solar energy

  • Article Countries: Canada USA
  • Article Year: 2019

Eric Jelinski, past president of Environmentalists for Nuclear - Canada, farmer, environmentalist, university lecturer with degrees in mechanical and chemical nuclear engineering, John Shanahan, past president of Environmentalists for Nuclear - USA, civil engineer, Editor of allaboutenergy.net, David Wojick, Energy analyst, author, civil engineer: Wind and solar energy, and catastrophic man-made global warming alarmism are one big (and dangerous) political soap opera being played out to entertain the gullible in western Europe, US, and Canada. "Greenpeace and others protesting CO2 and global warming, based on a mere BELIEF, like any other religion, is as laughable (if it weren't for their wilful and unlawful disruption of honest TAX-PAYING citizens' lives) as demanding the government 'do something' about the length of daylight, or the force of gravity, or the composition of Jupiter.
