Jay Lehr, Ph.D. Past Science Director at The Heartland Institute, Member of the Professional Speakers Network, speaking on agriculture, environmental policy, aging, health & nutrition, retirement/aging and green/environment. It is time that we all stop fighting alarmist numbers with our small numbers. The only number that matters is ZERO. That is, in fact, the real impact of carbon dioxide on the Earth’s thermostat and sea level rise. We are not in a battle over numbers. We are in a battle to protect our way of life.

Turbine proves more trouble than it was ever worth. After a decade of dashed financial hopes, mechanical failures and punishingly costly repairs, the school has been left to lick its wounds and lament. The experience to date has been a total financial failure. And now comes the whopping cleanup bill to have the nightmare removed, for good.

1. Since the 1920’s, trends in extreme weather events show neither higher frequency nor higher severity.
2. The average global temperature over the last 100+ years has risen by only 0.9 degrees centigrade.
3. The oceans are not rising any faster than they have been for at least the last 300 years
4. Whatever the capacity for CO2 to trap heat, that impact diminishes on a logarithmic scale, because the infrared wavelengths (heat) that CO2 absorbs is essentially at saturation levels already.
5. The world consumes about 100 million barrels of crude each and every day, and this consumption has been steadily rising since we first discovered it and learned how to use it.
6. Water vapour is not only a far better absorber of infrared (heat) but it is generally present at atmospheric concentrations several magnitudes higher than that of CO2 at typical summer temperatures.
7. The only ‘indication’ of future catastrophic temperatures are the results of computer models.

The idea that mankind could control the climate with a trace gas, carbon dioxide ("CO2"), was very intriguing and something that farmers could only hope for in their wildest dreams. Regretfully, my investigation failed to discover any scientific evidence to support the man-made global warming hypothesis. It appears that CO2-induced, climate change exists solely in the mythical, computer world of fatally flawed climate models. It is a childish delusion!

Keen to survive when dead-calm, freezing weather sets in? You’d better have access to nuclear or fossil-fuelled power sources, simply because wind and solar generators are bound to deliver absolutely nothing, at all.

The United States and Canada have a lot to collaborate on in the nuclear energy field, and they seem to be doing a good job of it. Each country is considering each other’s reactor designs and each has funded or chosen to review some of those from both countries.
An advantage of the high-temperature heat from an IMSR plant is that it would be delivered as a molten salt mixture using an inexpensive pipe loop, using an approach already in industrial use today. As a result, the IMSR power plant can replace fossil fuels in producing hydrogen and ammonia, chemical processing, and new applications such as clean synthetic transport fuels.

Indur Goklany - Carbon dioxide levels have risen inexorably since the 1700s. Yet despite this, climate sensitive indicators of human and environmental wellbeing that carbon dioxide affects
directly, such as crop yields, food production, prevalence of hunger, access to cleaner water and biological productivity, and those that it affects indirectly, such as living standards and life expectancies, have improved virtually everywhere.

Gary Young, mechanical engineer, major product development manager - He worked on product development that significantly contributed to profitability of a global technology company: No rational energy policy can occur until the GLOBAL WARMING role of CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2) is well understood. The intent of this paper is to find a direct physics answer to the question of if increasing CO2 causes global warming. It is based on “counting molecules and photons” and calculating what happens given the known physical properties of CO2 and the “greenhouse” causing infrared light emitted from the earth. The earth is undeniably warming. However, the primary culprit is not carbon dioxide or the specific issue of anthropogenic carbon dioxide; that 3.2% of CO2 caused by humans, and, more specifically, the 23% of the anthropogenic CO2 generated in the US.

Why on earth do we attribute any heating of the oceans to carbon dioxide, when there is a far more obvious culprit, and when such a straightforward examination of the thermodynamics render it impossible.

The same kind of conclusions can be drawn about carbon tax in other countries. These extreme environmentalists and their politicians are doing no good for "climate change," humanity or the environment. What should be done?

Calvin Beisner, Cornwall Alliance: Pollutant, according to Mirriam-Webster’s, denotes “something that pollutes,” and to pollute is “to make physically impure or unclean” or “to contaminate (an environment) especially with man-made waste.” The Google online dictionary defines pollutant as “a substance that pollutes something, especially water or the atmosphere,” and pollute as to “contaminate (water, air, or a place) with harmful or poisonous substances.” Carbon dioxide isn’t harmful or poisonous except at concentrations over a hundred times higher than its concentration in Earth’s atmosphere—levels that we’ll never approach by burning fossil fuels.

Jay Lehr, Ph.D. Science Director at The Heartland Institute: Many science and technology institutions and local and national governments use the term carbon to mean carbon dioxide. They refer to a person's, company's or country's "carbon footprint." Carbon brings to mind dirty carbon soot, not the colorless, odorless gas of life, carbon dioxide, which is what is really meant. Dr. Lehr explains the reason for this deliberate deception. It is like the deception of man-made global warming being called "climate change." Some countries don't tolerate this misuse of science. They will have far better energy programs and be in positions to take advantage of every weakness the "carbon footprint" using countries have. It is a shame to see North America and Europe allowing this to happen.

Thorpe Watson, Ph.D. in Physical Metallurgy & Science of Materials. Thirty five year career covering wide range of science disciplines plus 10 year investigation of the climate controversy: As we depart the coolest of the six warm periods since the last glaciation 10,000 years ago (Modern Warm Period), and enter another intervening cool period, truth will eventually prevail. China knows the truth as they commission a major coal-fired power plant every week. Canadian prairie farmers recognize the truth as they face shorter growing seasons. Will a Canadian political party acquire the courage and integrity to blow the whistle on this climate-change hoax before policies based on it completely destroy the Canadian economy?
